Gold Rush Day
Our Gold Rush Day is a half-day IN-SCHOOL field trip designed to teach 4th graders the history of the Gold Rush Era. Students will move among 6 different fun, hands-on stations.

Station 1: Panning for "gold"
The prospect of finding gold was the driving force for many who came to CA! But was it easy to find? Students will soon find out! Eureka!
Station 2: Pioneer Store
Students will learn what supplies prospectors needed to survive the long arduous trip out West.
Station 3: Creating a Poke Bag
How can you carry your gold without a bag? Each student will make their own!
Station 4: Gold Rush Game
Students will travel to California on the Overland Trail, around Cape Horn or through the Panama Canal.
Station 5: Shooting Bows and Arrows
Native Americans were greatly affected by the arrival of hundreds of thousands of prospectors. Honor them by learning a little more about them.
Station 6: Connecting California
Students will learn about one of the cultures drawn to California during this pivotal time in California history.
